Voyage south, deep into the Weddell Sea, far beyond the usual tourist trail to the home of the Antarctica’s most iconic animal.

Only a couple of years ago an Emperor Penguin colony was discovered just south of Snowhill Island in the Weddell Sea. Emperors nest in the colder regions of Antarctica, being the only species to actually nest on the ice.

On the return leg you’ll visit sites on the Antarctic Peninsula, before returning back to Ushuaia.

The MV Ortelius is just the vessel to make the voyage, being equipped with helicopters to fly you across the thickest sea ice on the final leg of the journey.
