FINE ART GICLEE EDITIONS
Extending traditional photographic processes, these works are reproduced
using Giclée short-run printing techniques. The range
includes images captured in-camera that lend themselves to the
softer tonal qualities of fine art media, such as watercolour
paper and canvas, along with digital designs that are created
as an extension of the captured image.

WHAT IS A GICLEE PRINT, AND HOW IS IT REPRODUCED?
Giclée is a French word that roughly translated
to "spray". In this case the word describes a
process used to print high resolution digital files. The
process lays pigment-based inks down onto various mediums,
including watercolour paper and canvas, and other materials.
Giclée has become a recognised method of producing
very high quality reproductions of collectable artwork,
photographs and computer-generated art. The Giclée
process's inherent qualities are a welcome addition to
the range of reproduction techniques available to artists.
Recent developments in pigment-based inks ensure the longevity
of Giclée prints.

WHAT IS A LIMITED EDITION PRINT?
A Limited Edition (LE) is a fixed number of reproductions
of an original work of art, numbered in succession, showing
the print's number and total edition size (example 1/30)
and signed by the artist/photographer. Once a Limited Edition
size is set and printed, no further copies will be reproduced
in that form. Being limited in number, it is possible that
demand for certain Limited Editions could be greater than
the number of reproductions produced for the edition. The
price of individual prints within an edition often increases
as an edition gets closer to selling out. In the fine arts
industry, once an edition is sold out, prints are considered
to be on the "Secondary Market". This means that
the print can be sold by the owner or through an agent or
gallery – often above issue price – depending
on supply and demand of course. Limited Editions restricted
to low numbers have the greatest potential to increase in
value. Darren releases Limited Editions in various mediums,
including Giclée prints and photographic prints.

WHAT IS A CERIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY?
A Certificate of Authenticity distinguishes authentic limited-edition
reproductions from "posters" or "Open
Editions". The Certificate of Authenticity explains,
in detail, the various factors which contributed to the
production of the Edition. The more details the Certificate
includes, the more value it contributes to the print.
Like the print itself, the Certificate will be signed
by the artist.

"Kaleidoscapes"
In a departure from his best-known wildlife and landscape
images, Darren's 'Kaleidoscapes' employ multiple image and
digital collage
techniques to create works of intense perspective and symmetry.
This new
series extends the process of designing an image beyond the
moment of in-camera exposure.
