Last Wednesday 2 March 2011, legendary broadcaster Margaret Throsby interviewed English-born Australian composer David Pickvance on her ABC Classic FM Mornings show.

David is an amazing talent. I first met him when we were both plying our respective trades at Southbank Markets in Brisbane in the early 1990s… he was selling CDs of his compositions, I was selling ready-to-frame photos. David allowed me to use some of his early work as the soundtracks for my first forays into multi-slide projector AVs.

David’s flair for creating landscapes of sound has seen him combine his skills of music composition and sound design into soundtracks for film, tv and radio, working for the last 10 years in the UK on radio plays for the BBC and other major projects.

David has recently returned to Australia, where he is continuing his work with music and sound. He’s currently undertaking a project to create a complete auditory experience for visitors to the Brisbane Powerhouse.

While some of my images have been used on his CD covers, we’ve been threatening to collaborate on some image and sound projects for many years… hopefully one will come to fruition soon!

You can discover more of David’s talent at his web site and some of his albums are available on iTunes… just search for David Pickvance.
